The Last Week of School!

Tomorrow is my last day of school, YAY!  We have been wrapping things up in class this week so I wanted to share with you some of the fun things we've been doing!

My school is doing a Summer Reading Challenge through Scholastic.  It's super simple for the students and teachers to keep up with.  If they read at least 400 minutes this summer they will get to have a snow cone party at the beginning of next year!  So fun!  After introducing their challenge, we made these cutie patootie reading goal crafts from The Teacher Wife.  They LOVED their finished products!

{Love that he used the word "regress" after we talked so much about it!!}
 We've also been working on our 2nd Grade Memory Books.  For our covers, we used Rachelle's rocket craft from her End of the Year unit.  It helped spice things up a bit!

For the memory book, I used Erica Bohrer's unit.  I just stapled the pages inside of a large sheet of construction paper...gotta make things easiest for me, ha!

 One more thing... End of the Year Student Gifts!  I bought these water bottles from Wal-Mart for $1.50 a piece.  Then, I used my Silhoutte Cameo and some vinyl to make their names and polka dots.  I'd say it took me about 1 1/2 hours to get them all done.  Not too shabby, but definitely wasn't the quickest gift either.  I handed them out this morning, and my students absolutely loved them!  So, I'd say it was worth the time :)

 And, that's it for me!  I have been working lots more on my room, so I hope to be back early this summer to show you what I finished up as well as answer some of the questions I've received!  Happy End of the Year to y'all :)

A Silhouette Cameo is on my wish list! I plan on purchasing it this summer with my Summer School pay! I'll have to search your blog to see what else you have made with it. I love your end of the year crafts. I didn't know that scholastic did a summer reading program, I'll have to check it out!

I'm in love with your water bottles! What a great gift! Students in my class are allowed to keep a water bottle on their desk during the school day. I think I just found their back to school gift. Thanks!!!

I need a cameo too! I check at Michaels and the salesman told me to wait for a sale because they get discounted $100. Plus, you get a teacher's discount too! Super cute water bottles, Mrs. Lemons :-)

I LOVE the water bottles! I think I will copycat that idea for the start of next year! Our students get to bring water bottles to school and we always have problems with the screw on tops (someone forgets to screw it on and we have a flood) or 3 of the same bottles with no names...etc! I think these will be my back to school gifts filled with a cute pencil, eraser, and 1st day snack! Now...to find someone with a cricut or silhouette that will help me out. I may be spending a few hours at my Mother-in-law's house for that!

I have wanted a silhouette since you posted your first project! This may be the icing on the cake, but I am afraid I won't be able to figure it out when I get it! I too would love to know more about how you did it, fonts you use, and where you buy your supplies for it! In your free time ; ) Thanks for all your amazing ideas this year!

I absolutely love your summer reading goal books, they are so cute. And I must really look into getting a Cameo or Cricut. I see so many amazing things created with them. Those gifts are so cute & it sounds like the kids loved them, which to me would make the time spent making the letters & dots all worth it.

I AM SO EXCITED! I have been eyeing those water bottles at Wal-mart ever since I saw this post earlier this month. My store hasn't had the red ones the past 3 times I have looked at them. Well today, after having a bad week, I decided to go to Wal-mart to find something to spend money on. Lo-and-behold they had the red ones along with the blue, green, and orange AND they were on CLEARANCE for $1 each!!! YIPPEE! Now I have to figure out how to use my Mother-in-Law's cricut machine and find someone who has a cute font cartridge. I SOOOOO want a Silhouette! THANKS AGAIN FOR POSTING THESE! I am excited to get them ready for the first day of school. Only 6 weeks left of summer for me...
