I've been blogging for a little over a year now, so I feel pretty comfortable with y'all ;). I thought it was about time for me to share with you some of my quirks and the things that make me... ME! Please DON'T judge me and please DO link up and tell us a little more about you! I want to know all of your silly quirks and the things that make you tick :)
1. I thoroughly HATED having red hair as a teenager. I actually bleached it blonde for several years. When I was in 5th grade I read that red-heads should not wear red, pink, or orange. That magazine article has SCARRED me for life :( to this day I do not wear those colors!
2. I got married to the Mr. when I was 19 years old. Is it sad that he had to be my "legal guardian" for our honeymoon cruise because I wasn't 21?! hehe
3. I can't sleep in regular t-shirts because I feel claustrophobic. I prefer v-necks or something that doesn't "hug" my neck!
4. On that same thought, I LOVE the new bracelet trends that are floating around Pinterest, BUT I can hardly keep a bracelet on for an hour! I don't like things hugging my wrists either :)
5. Seafood absolutely disgusts me
6. I am a "Real Housewives" junkie, but my favorite are the ladies from Beverly Hills. Every time they start to argue I say to my husband, "I just can't stand it when all my friends are fighting!"
7. I was a cheerleader for 6 years, and to this day have dreams about cheering in high school!
8. When I was 16, I single-handedly took out a wall at my parent's house. Parking is definitely not my forte, and I drove into the wall while trying to pull in. Needless to say, the wall had to be completely re-bricked!
(Please ignore how I actually look in this picture... just notice the wall in the background!)
9. Now that I'm the big 2-7, I'm trying.so.hard to not bite my nails, but it's almost impossible for me to refrain unless they are painted. So, that has turned into getting a manicure every 2 weeks :)10. I secretly (and now publicly) want to be Katniss from the Hunger Games. I read all 3 books during our vacation to Hawaii. Now I've got my BFF hooked, so my life is complete! If you haven't read them, you need to get off the blogs now and go purchase them!
My new favorite sentence is, "May the odds be EVER in your favor"
Unfortunately, when I try to climb in trees this is what happens...
11. In order to fall asleep each night, I have to do 2 things: 1. I have to pray 2. I have to sing a worship song in my head. In particular I have to sing, "Lord prepare me to be a sanctuary..." it's a worship song from when I was a teenager. Literally, I have to sing it in my head e-v-e-r-y night!
12. Speaking of singing, I am an AWFUL singer. I don't do a lot of singing in class because it's just that bad. BUT, I'm pretty much an all-star when I'm the lead singer on Rock Band ;)
13. By marriage, I am a full-out Texas Longhorn fan. I don't even try to object because Jared will buy me any UT shirt that I want, so I'm all for it! And, I will make an exception to wear a little burnt orange :)
Do you think I'm weird, ha?! Now, it's your turn... tell me all about you :)}

Peace, Love, and First Grade
I am a teacher from WA state and I don't have a blog. I think about it everyday but being a middle child makes me want to do everything over the top so I just idle for fear of making a mistake. I am 51 yrs. old and have only taught four years. Went back to school in my 40's while working as an instructional asst. Love my job probably too much. I run, cycle, crossfit and think about my lessons and school compulsively. Love, love, love your blog.
Oh my word, Amy....that wall!!!! HAHAHAHAHA
Too funny, girlfriend! :)

Being a fellow red head I have to tell you it's the best color to have!!!! :) I looooove red hair. I wear red all the time. It's my favorite color. And although I definitely stay away from yellow, I have found a love for burnt orange/rust colors. Great link up! :)

Reaching for the TOP!
Amy, I will tell you the same thing about your gorgeous red hair that I tell my husband when he complains about his curly hair. God gave you a beautiful gift, so stop complaing about it. :) Hee-hee. I spend alot of money to get my hair to be even close to your red! I love your blog. I've been following it and your TPT store since I "discovered" Pinterest back in January. In fact ALOT of the fun things I do in my classroom are really your ideas! I've posted some of the things we have done on my blog. You should come check it out sometime!

I Loved reading your post. Thanks for sharing! I didn't take out a wall when I was 16, but took out a tree that was by our driveway. I was in such a hurry to meet up with my friends that I backed right into this tree and somehow uprooted it. I just had to link up. Enjoy your week!

I'm a redhead, and I don't wear those colors either! My traumatic incident came from a girl in my class making mean comments about my pink shirt not matching my hair. I'm slowly trying to get over it though! :)
Loved the blog post...hoping to link up soon!

That's So Second Grade
Amy, I love this idea. I too was a bit nervous, as we have such a personal story to tell. I just had to share one of the most important events in our lives. The day that my husband died and came back. I also added some other fun stuff about me too.
I had no idea that you are/were a red head! Great Linky Amy.
Emma from All free Teacher Resources and Clever Classroom. :)
LOL! I love that you ran into your house with a CAR! You are AWESOME!
You are too funny. My husband took out his garage door when he was in HS... backing out. I'm also 27 and just recently stopped biting my nails! What's the deal? Why is it s hard to stop? I've tried for such a long time and somehow just gave it up recently. I still pick and get the urge sometimes though. It was fun learning a little more about you! I'll be linking up soon!

The School Supply Addict
Amy, I too have a problem with biting my nails! I was getting a manicure every 2 weeks as well, but then I got tired of going. ha ha. Now, my nails are back to being colorless and short. :(
I absolutely LOVE all of your ideas and the fact that you teach 2nd as well! You are an inspiration to me!
Love this linky party. Thanks for hosting. It was so fun to read about the things that make you you. I've said it before, but your blog is one of my favorites. :)

I might be getting you mixed up with someone else, but do you know Dawn Miller? she and I teach together and she was both my son and daughters' kindergarten teacher. If not, sorry for the mix up.
Would love for you to stop by my blog and read my tell me more (when I finish it)

We must have read the exact same magazine article, because I'm a redhead and I don't wear red, orange, or pink at all! I am all about some greens and blues though! Must be why those are my favorite colors!
And the Hunger Games rocks, but I wouldn't want to be Katniss!
Ugh I hate seafood too! Unfortunately, my husband loves it! This is a great linky!

Smiling In Second Grade
I am a fellow redhead! I never read that artcile on the colors but I refuse to wear red or orange. I don't know what it is about those colors but I have never liked them. I think it comes from being a redhead.
I was barely 20 when I got married. I felt like a minor too. On our honeymoon, my husband really wanted to go see this band that was performing at a bar. But we couldn't because I wasn't 21.
Thanks for starting this linky!! I am enjoying reading about all the different bloggers and getting to know them a little bit better. Wow! What an awesome group of teachers!! Thanks Amy!

I love bracelets but also can not wear them as they drive me CRAZY!!! They have to be super tight & not move at all. Also, thanks for the old school camp song...which has been stuck in my head all day...harmonies and all. ;)

I couldn't help myself from snickering at your first thing about being a redhead, that literally could have come straight from my mouth. I hated being a redhead when I was a kid. I didn't start really appreciating it until the middle of college. Now I love it! It makes me unique not weird :)
I also avoid all shades of red, pink, and orange :)

A New Teacher's Journey
What a great link party - can't wait to post it 34! When I was learning to drive, I was pulling my dad's car into the garage (he was upstairs) and I have never been very good with space relations - and, well I took out the hub cap. I'll never forget my father's face when I showed him. He was actually very nice about it though! Thanks for sharing your picture!

*My husband got me hooked on the Hunger Games last summer. They are so good. *If I drove the car into my parent's house, they'd NEVER let me forget. *You look so happy on your wedding day. *Hook 'em horns! My best friend got her Masters at UT and we LOVED visiting her any chance we could get.
Great Linky!

I finally had a chance to link up!! Thank you so much for hosting this linky party... I have loved getting a behind-the-scenes look at so many bloggers! I am 26 and am an obsessive nail biter, as well! I love your technique for falling asleep at night :) Do you know the song Set a Fire by Will Reagan & the United Pursuit? It's fantastic and is my current fall asleep song!
This, by far, has been one of the best linky parties! I don't know that I'm going to make it out of my pjs today for blog hoppin' and reading them all! LOL!!! Thanks!

Great post and great linky party!!
I have a four year old daughter who is a redhead. The red hair came from her daddy. Someone once told me, "You can't dress her in green b/c then she'll look like a Christmas tree!" Ewww...I don't agree. I hate comments like that. I'm sure you look fabulous in whatever color you choose to wear!

I found you through the linky! I did mine in my blog, Kitchin's Kinder
I just started teacher blogging in April, and I am a bit addicted. I am SO happy to find so many Christian teachers!! I know the praise song you sing at night, it reminds me of vespers at camp around the fire :)

I just finished the 3rd book of The Hunger Games two days ago. Each day
my friend was asking "Done yet?" "Huh, huh?" It was good...but they actors in
the movie are not what I pictured in my head. Thanks for doing this linky. It's
great to see another side to all the great bloggers. :)
