Oh my goodness... it was definitely a Monday for me today! This week is going to be all kinds of crazy with state testing. Definitely already looking forward to Friday :)
We started learning about adverbs today, and let me just tell you that it was a lot easier said than done! When we were generating sentences, I got several that were just like this: "My dog is kindly. I am nicely. The calmly student was in class." BUT, it was our first day, so that made me feel a l.i.t.t.l.e better.
I made a chart with the things that we will mostly focus on in class. This chart is not one of my favorites, but it got the job done :)
We watched this Schoolhouse Rock video... definitely a throw back to my elementary school days!
Then, I gave each student 4 adverbs that they had to put into sentences. After I checked their sentences, they copied them to make a little adverb tree. This tree pattern is from my Main Idea unit. I will tell you that I have SEVERAL students that are not finished yet... like I said this concept was easier said than done! We will definitely continue working on adverbs for the next few days.
I'm off to work out... gotta get home to do sub plans for when I'm administering the test to some 4th graders this week! Hope y'all had a great Monday... get some rest, my sweet friends!
