We had such a great first week of school! Now it's time to really get going and have some fun learning with my sweet second graders! Here are some of the lessons I'll be doing next week!
In Reading, we are going to do an Amber Brown unit. So, we will be making text-to-text connections and text-to self!

I hope to throw in some cutesy stuff, too, but I just haven't wrapped my brain around that yet!
For Place Value, I found several cute lessons from fellow bloggers. Here's what I included in the plans:

Love your blog and your ability to share so much!
Funny story for ya... I am a new teacher and found myself in 2nd grade and am in love. One of my team members heard me talking about the book Brand New Pencils, Brand New Books, and said oh I have this cute sheet to go with it!! Well on the bottom of the sheet it said Mrs. Lemons... I was like HOLD UP! Did you get this off a blog?? Well she did! Yours, of course! I copied the sheet with the pencil where you illustrate and write something your good at and my second graders made their first class book! I made a pencil cover and put all of their pencils inside! It was crazy to see how we both look at your blog and I thought I would share with you!!!
thanks for linking to my base ten cards.. I hope you enjoy!! good luck this school year!
Love the roll the dice game, thanks for sharing!

Hey just wanted to say thank you. I'm up here on the east coast, NJ to be exact, and your blog is keeping me occupied as I await the dreaded IRENE! You have such wonderful ideas. Day after labor day I start my first year in 2nd grade, a little nervous. I can't help it, I've been with 5 year olds for the past 4 years. But your blog is inspiring me.

Oh My Goodness!!!! I have been on your blog for hours looking and pinning so many of your fantastic ideas! Thank you so much for sharing so many wonderful ideas. I am thinking of beginning a blog, but am only a blog stalker right now- LOL. I am just up the road from you in Plano and I also teach second grade. Thanks again for being so willing to share so many great ideas.
Wishing you a very happy school year!

Thank you so much for these ideas. This is my second year in second grade and I have been looking for some new ideas. I have found so much from your site, and I appreciate you sharing for free. Thanks!
Thanks...Irene came and went..left behind some damaged windows, lots of flooding, knocked over trees and more...but I was one of the lucky ones, it kind of "blew" by us. Now it's back to work tomorrow. =)
That's a great graphic organizer for studying characters.
